If you are a MobileMe customer and want to sync your contacts and calendars Over-The-Air (OTA) to your iPhone there’s an easy and a hard way to do it — and the easy way isn’t exactly intuitive or documented very well. This post will explain how to setup up MobileMe the easy way so that you don’t have multiple versions of your contacts and calendars on your iPhone. If you’ve already synced your iPhone to iTunes and checked the boxes for syncing your contacts and calendars, I recommend starting over — which means restoring your iPhone as new
If you’re like me — and by all accounts 75 percent of you are — you don’t like glossy screens on your notebooks. The reasons are obvious and have been enumerated on this blog ad nauseum, but suffice it to say, glare. The Queensland University of Technology has published health and safety considerations for Macs with high gloss screens in which they note: Reflections and glare on high gloss monitor screens and their relation to the angle of the monitor screen, could cause the operator to adopt awkward postures when viewing the monitor screen and using related equipment

The good Seven bays Plenty of options and features OS X set-up tool The bad ZFS implementation should probably be avoided Cooling system a little loud Design The N7700 is the biggest Thecus unit you can get before you start hitting racks. It can take seven drives and comes in two flavours — the cheaper N7700 which takes SATA drives, and the more expensive N7700 SAS, which as the name suggests, takes SAS drives. All these are hidden away by a magnetically-latched push-door, the seven quick release bays behind are lockable and with status and activity lights

The central bank Sunday announced half-yearly monetary policy offering the private sector enough credit for massive investment to help chase a higher growth target and cautioning that the power and gas crisis coupled with infrastructure deficiency might constrain quick economic development. The policy statement for six months to December forecasts the gross domestic product growth at 6 per cent — higher than budgetary projection of 5.5 per cent — and the average rate of inflation at 6.5 per

White, environmentally sound and cool to the touch OLED lights could very well be the future of mundane office environment lighting, but for now they’re just meant to be man handled by four geeks at a table. Still, Office Space comparisons aside, for me the simple dimming of the four-square OLED, and the fact that these lights won’t rape and pillage the environment like those nasty mercury-containing fluorescents we see everywhere today, were cool enough to warrant the wait

Banks and building societies have been accused in today’s Mail on Sunday of increasing their profits by keeping mortgage rates high for new borrowers and customers who are reaching the end of special deals. Vince Cable, Liberal Democrat Treasury spokesman , said last week that lenders were holding back economic recovery and a revival in the housing market by rebuilding capital reserves rather than cutting mortgage rates. On Friday, consumer group Which? asked the Government to force the pa

Story from the Jerusalem Post via Mark Steyn at the Corner . (H/T ECM) Excerpt: He said he had been a highly regarded member of the force, and had so “impressed my superiors” that, at 18, “I was given the ‘honor’ to temporarily marry young girls before they were sentenced to death.” In the Islamic Republic it is illegal to execute a young woman, regardless of her crime, if she is a virgin, he explained.

Due to today’s economic unsteadiness across the world, the requirement for the bankruptcy lawyer has become even greater. It is not good to know that your business is going bankrupt for any cause as well blaming the financial economy. Since when you opened your business did you ever consider putting all that extra money away or paying of the loan you took to open it originally, or think that you would ever meet face to face with a bankruptcy attorney at all one day

The blog is rather pleased with the performance of its new Boom/Gloom Index©, as financial markets continue to respond positively to any suggestion of “good news”. The Index is based on Ben Graham’s famous concept that markets are: • A voting machine in the short-term but • A weighing machine in the long-term It is therefore meant to identify whether positive or negative sentiment is driving short-term performance. And clearly, market sentiment is indeed still remarkably positive, in spite of the fact that there is no sign of any real improvement in the underlying fundamental position.

In a speech last week , Larry Summers said: Without comprehensive healthcare reform, there is little prospect of convincing markets that the long-term growth in Federal debt is under control or of convincing businesses that the United States is the most competitive place for them to invest. This statement, while seemingly sensible to some laymen, is actually inconsistent with standard economic analysis, such as that offered by the Congressional Budget Office. The CBO tells us that the healthcare bills being considered in Congress will increase rather than decrease health spending and so will hardly assure markets the Federal debt is under control

Though a Christian, I’m not a subscriber to the view that new diseases, when they first make an appearance on the world stage, are scourges sent by the Almighty as a punishment for our manifold sins. Disease affects the ‘innocent’ just as much as the ‘guilty’; and it would be crass to think, as some defenders and detractors of Christianity alike appear to, that the Christian view is that all suffering represents some sort of direct chastisement for one’s personal sins – even though it may be reg

I own a small business and when the economy took a turn for the worse, I was forced to layoff my employees. I did not want to get in a situation where I could not pay them because that would be extremely unfair. And the idea of giving them IOUs seemed ludicrous. That was over a year ago and the economy has actually become worse. Now, I thought about this because this happens to big companies that file for bankruptcy without warning and close shop literally the next day. Seems like that is

North Dakota Senator Byron Dorgan speaks of the need for a clean energy, low carbon future, but fears cap and trade schemes such as that proposed in the Waxman-Markey bill aren’t the solution, in large part due to interference from the likes of trading firms such as Goldman Sachs creating financial derivatives and the resultant speculative trading that would hijack the intent and purpose of cap and trade. As an example, Dorgan highlights the extreme price fluctuations of oil in 2008, showi

For the last few years, whenever housing starts increased, I wrote that was bad news because there was already too much inventory. Now, even though there is still too much existing home inventory, and too much new home inventory in some areas, it appears that new home sales have stabilized. Since single family housing starts (built for sale) have been below new home sales for six consecutive quarters (through Q1), this suggests single family housing starts should also bottom soon.
